52 weeks of happy - 1/52

I need all the happiness I can get at the moment. Yet again the school holiday has been a rain-soaked affair. We have been able to get out by donning our raincoats and wellies, but the constantly grey skies do affect my mood, I think. At least it doesn't flood where I live, I have that to be thankful for (although our local park is slowly turning into a lake!).

So, after seeing Jacquie's post today, I have decided to join in with the 52 weeks of happy project that originated on the 'Little Birdie' blog here.

So, four things that have made me happy this week...

1: A wet muddy walk through the woods at Alderley Edge.

2: Picking up, and working on, a long abandoned project.

3: A bunch of red tulips.

4: A shiny new Kitchen Aid mixer which had it's first use mixing bread dough this morning.

I am hoping this project will bring back my enjoyment of blogging, as well as reminding me of the happiness to be found in small things. I have lost interest in my blog recently and have even considered deleting it. Well, time will tell, I guess.

  2. Hi - I love the idea of looking at the small things that make us happy. It helps to bring more joy into our hearts. I am often melancholy at this time of the year too. Its not the weather for me because, strangely, I like rain, cold, wind and gloom (told you I was strange!!). For me its the reminder that another year has passed and the memories of loved ones lost and times that can't be recreated. Although I have only been blogging a year I too have got fed up with my blog due mainly to not having the ability to photograph very well and then feeling I can't post without the lovely pictures and presentation I see on other blogs. I am thinking 52 weeks of happy may be a good idea for me too. I look forward to yours and Bunny Mummy's too. Lily. xxx

  4. Your mixer is stunning! That blanket looks amazing too.
I have lost interest about blogging too. Sometimes that happens. That's why I take some breaks every now and then. But I always come back. :)

  6. think carefully before you delete your blog, I went through the same feelings a while back and deleted a lot of my early entries, I now well and truly regret this. Hold on, your interest will return and your blog is great.

  7. I love this idea of 52 weeks of happiness. I only recently found your blog and love it so I hope you do stay. It's so very easy to feel grim with this weather especially during holiday time! Hope you keep blogging, Heather x

  8. I saw Jacquie's post too and thought it was a lovely idea.
Your tulips look lovely and as my mum bought me some daffs yesterday I might have a pic of them as one of my 4.

  9. Ahhh the rain always makes things seem gloomy but hopefully your tulips and lovely blanket will help brighten things up!

I know what you mean about the blog thing too, I've not been great at it lately & I do think a lot of that's because photographing in this light is terrible, and what's a blog without pictures? Don't worry about it though, just blog if you want to and if you don't - don't feel you should :)

  10. It has been very grey and gloomy weather wise around here. I think that's why I love to work with colourful fabrics, yarns and paints, and bright lighting too. Your four cheerful things today are lovely, such a good idea too!
Hope the sun comes out soon :)

  12. I struggle with these dark days too. Alderley Edge though is wonderful for lifting the spirits even in the rain.
Love the 52 weeks of happiness idea, think I might even join you. I've not been feeling the blog love lately either, sometimes it gets like that, and I know you know it's complicated too.
I hope you don't delete, I'd miss you for one. x

  13. Persistent rain in holidays is never a nice thing!! Although I'm in the southern hemisphere where it is hot and sunny at the moment, I find winter when it comes down here very hard to deal with. Blogging about good things is a fab way to brighten our dreary days.
I love your blog, I sure hope you stay around.

  15. The grey and rainy days have been hideous Victoria and I like you need some serious colour and fun bits to keep me cheery through it all.I do love your blog and would miss not seeing your beautiful creations but I can also understand that if you are not feeling up to it or your love of it has decreased it can get to you just wanting to end it. I did that with Facebook about 2 years ago.
I think I'm going to take part in this happy weekly project too xox Thanks for sharing x Penelope

  16. Hi Victoria, so glad you are giving this a try. Your blog is wonderful.....don't delete !
The days are getting longer, gradually, and hopefully we will get to see the sun, if the rain clouds shift.
I love your happy things....red tulips have been so welcome in my house this December and your crochet is looking wonderful.
I need to do less blogging and more making :0)

  17. I'll be sad if you stopped blogging and going by all the comments you have so will others. I'm quite new to blogging and it has opened up a whole new world to me that has helped me get over tragedy in my life ( as well as the healing power of crochet!) Concentrating on positive things is a brave and brilliant thing to do, well done. Take care, Sam xx

  21. love the things that are making you happy victoria! I totally understand, I've lost interest in blogging too and have been thinking about deleting mine, I write one post and then feel like I have to keep writing better and better posts, I just can't be bothered with the pressure really! Do what makes you happy, you can start another if you change your mind, we have to do what is right for us, not other people :O)
wishing you a happy week X

I have lost my blogging mojo a bit recently- I'm finding it really difficult to fit everything in. But, it's so great to catch up with everyone's blogs again!

  24. You have some lovely things to make you happy. I know what you mean about the weather - I had promised that I would start running again this year but not too inspired at the moment - it seems much more cosy to sit by the fire with my crochet x
