If you've been reading my blog for a while you will know that I have a collection of Christmas mugs from Emma Bridgewater. What you won't know is that I used to have a collection of non-Christmas mugs from Emma Bridgewater. One by one they have disappeared. I've yet to discover what happened to some of them because no-one will own up to breaking/losing them. This year, when the Christmas mugs were put away, I looked at my sorry collection of ordinary mugs - none of them very pretty and some of them tea stained - and decided a trip to the Bridgewater factory was in order. Rather handily the factory is only an hour's trip away, so last Friday off I went!
This is just a fraction of the mugs available in the factory outlet shop...
We had lunch in the cafe which has the most amazing Aga you will ever see...
As if the outlet shop isn't enough, there's also a gift shop. All full-price in here though...
It was so difficult to choose which mugs to buy, but I managed to came home with 6 mugs (all seconds, although I'd be hard pushed to know why). So, that's my share of the Christmas money well and truly spent, but drinking my tea from one of these beauties makes me ever so happy, so it's money well spent in my opinion!

Lovely! That looks like somewhere where one could be easily parted from one's money! ;)

Oh this is like pottery heaven. I love the mugs you've chosen. I think you may need to keep them under lock and key to stop them wandering. Thanks for letting us know about the factory. I just googled and found it's only 56 mins from my house. So that's my next day out planned.

ReplyDeleteAll so very pretty! Great pics of the factory too.
ReplyDeleteI would love to be able to go there. I think I could find some tea cups there also..Looks like fun.
ReplyDeleteThe mugs you bought are gorgeous! Goodness, what lovely things, I am drooling. What a wonderful day / visit.
ReplyDeleteOooh, lovely! I am so jealous at you being only an hour away but my purse isn't. It's just as well I don't live nearer. xx
ReplyDeleteWhat a treat :) bet your tea tastes even better in one of those xxxxx
ReplyDeleteBeeeyootiful!
ReplyDeleteI meant to tell you that my mum added a mug to my Christmas collection this year! After I blogged about her shop, she must have stashed it away but she bought me the Christmas Stripe (red and green). So lovely! Now I have NGC Holly, Christmas Stripe and then the Kitty's Christmas Ivy spongeware in the 1/2pt mugs, then the red and green reindeer and 2 blue reindeer baby mugs. She gave Andy a starry skies 1/2 pt mug too so it's lovely opening our cupboard at the moment! I was excited to tell you because I knew you would "get it". I remain jealous of your herald robin mug though!
Lovely - what a fantastic treat day out! Maggie.
ReplyDeletehow wonderful! I need to visit this place!
